Heavyweight Loopback Jersey
Jersey is a versatile fabric with many different use-cases - most notably it is used across t-shirts, sweatshirts and underwear. It dates back hundreds of years, and was traditionally made from wool and used in fisherman's knits or men's underwear. The name comes, maybe surprisingly, from the island Jersey, an island in the English Channel.
Loopback Jersey is a type of jersey where the inside of the fabric has loop-like properties, something which was very useful for athletes due to the sweat-absorbing effect.
Sometimes the loopback jersey is brushed to fluff up the cotton and make it softer on the inside, however this excess cotton is often what sticks to your t-shirt once you take off your brand new sweatshirt, as you say "Ah I need to wash it first..."
At Ronning we strictly use an unbrushed loopback jersey, to ensure the garment doesn't lose weight when washed and lasts for many years to come.
Our Heavyweight Loopback Jersey is 100% GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, which comes in a 470GSM weight, you can explore our full range of jersey below.
